Our Southeast Adventure guarantees you will not only see Glaciers, Bears & Whales, but will be so close you will hear and feel the ice move, smell the salmon breath of an Alaskan brown bear, and experience the spray of a humpback whale as it surfaces beside your kayak!
What sets us apart from other Alaskan tours is that you become part of this great land not just a spectator. You will learn about the nature and wildlife of Alaska through naturalists and guides who have lived here for many years and come to respect the untamed wildlife and breathtaking beauty of this Last Frontier.
Day 1-Arrive in Juneau, Alaska. The first day in the capital of Alaska is spent at leisure exploring this historic town. At night Juneau's bar’s come alive. The Red Dog Saloon with sawdust floors and artifacts on every wall is the place to be. Wyatt Earp's handgun, which he checked at the door, is still hanging on the wall!
Driftwood Lodge
Day 2-Juneau. A day to experience a number of options including: Helicopter flight and glacier landing, a visit to Admiralty Island to see the bears of Pack Creek or a fishing charter in search of salmon & halibut. These are all at your own expense and we can advise you of the cost.

Day 3-Juneau. Tracy Arm. After breakfast, board the Adventure Bound for a cruise into Tracy Arm, a narrow, twisting fjord with massive cliffs rising thousands of feet on each side. At the end of the Arm are the North and South Sawyer Glaciers. See the spectacle as massive sheets of ice “calve” from the glacier’s face. At the base of the glacier, cruise amongst hundreds of seals and their pups as they relax on the icebergs, safe from predators. On our return to Juneau, cruise past Admiralty Island, home to the highest concentration of brown bears anywhere in the world.
Driftwood Lodge
Day 4-Gustavus. Mid-afternoon board a small plane for the short flight to Gustavus, gateway to Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve. The scenic flight allows you to relax and enjoy the majesty of Alaska’s pristine wilderness from the air. On landing at Gustavus a short drive leads to our lodge, set amongst towering spruce trees. The remainder of the day is yours to relax or maybe take a bike ride in search of moose.

Day 5-Whales of Point Adolphus. Kayak with whales on this easy but exciting camping trip. Spend three days and two nights at Alaska’s most famous humpback feeding area. After a hot and hearty breakfast, board a charter boat for a ride across Icy Strait to our campsight. Doll porpoise ride our bow wave and the familiar spray from humpbacks appear. After lunch on a wilderness beach, have a brief lesson on paddling with whales.

Day 6 -Whales of Point Adolphus. Nothing will prepare you for the thrill of seeing a 30 tonne humpback leap clear out of the water then glide beneath your kayak. Days will be spent leisurely kayaking and watching for whales, seals, sea lions and otters. Salmon and trout fishing are available for those who bring their fishing gear. At night, fall asleep under the canopy of the Tongass National Forest, as you listen to whales frolicking off shore.

Day 7-Whales of Point Adolphus. Midmorning the charter boat returns to load our kayaks for the journey back to Gustavus. The scenic ride gives us additional chances for observing and photographing marine mammals. Head back to the Inn for a hot shower and a home cooked meal. The afternoon is yours to beachcomb or just relax with your thoughts.
Tonight, over a salmon & crab meal, reflect on the incredible experiences you have encountered, the wildlife you have seen, the friendly Alaskan folk you have met and perhaps come to an understanding that Alaska isn’t just a place on a map, it’s an emotion, a sense of what we were before we became so civilised. You will take with you, a feeling that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

Day 8-Gustavus.
